Amazon.co.uk Redesign – now you see it, now you don’t
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008Amazon.co.uk have had a redesign – of sorts. The old tabbed top bar has gone, to be replaced by a slicker integrated top bar, which looks much more up to date, although in true Amazon style, it is conservative rather than radical. The thing is, I don’t see it all the time…
Viewing the site at home, on Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, I get the new design, but when I view the site from work (for research purposes only of course!), I get the old one, again it doesn’t seem to matter if I use IE7, Firefox or Opera. I understand they must have dozens of web servers on their server farm to update, but its been about two weeks now.
Still, hats off to Amazon UK for finally giving us something a bit fresher. It may be evolution rather than revolution, but in the e-commerce game, you need to do it bit by bit – it doesn’t take much to scare customers off into the arms of a competitor.
